Dog Christmas Gifts: Our Top Picks for Your Best Friends!

Giving our dogs Christmas gifts can help us and them find even more joy during the holidays.

Even if you don’t have a dog of your own, giving the dog lovers in your life well-thought-out gifts can be very meaningful.

This list is a great place to start for giving Christmas gifts for the dogs, and dog lovers, in your life.

Dog Christmas Gifts: Our Favorites

My clients will often ask me what products I buy for my own pets. I signed up for the Amazon Associate Program so that I can include Amazon product links in this article.

Dog Christmas Gifts: Santa’s List

Christmas will be here before we know it, but what are the best dog Christmas gifts? The first question you should ask, is will the Christmas present be for the dog, or their person?

Finding Christmas gifts for the dogs and dog people in your life can lead to real decision fatigue. There are so many options, so how do you choose a useful, safe, and thoughtful gift?

Dog Christmas Stockings and Christmas Dog Treats

For most, a dog Christmas stocking is a great idea. GEX Personalized Pet Christmas Stockings provide plenty of room for your dog’s favorite treats.

Two dog treats that I recommend are the Stewart Raw Naturals Freeze Dried Turkey Dog Treats and the Jack and Pup Trachea Dog Chews.

If you have a dog with a sensitive stomach you can try making something from the Organic Dog Biscuit Cookbook to add to their stocking, or gift the book itself to your favorite dog person.

If you’re gifting to dog people, you can add personalized ornaments or a frame like the Bone Dangle and Paw Prints Ornament or the Kurt Adler Dog Heart Picture Frame.

A dog lover who is also a bookworm may enjoy some of my own favorite books like From Fearful to Fear Free. Or for someone who loves shelter dogs, I recommend Finding Home: Shelter Dogs and their Stories.

Dog Christmas Toys

The busiest dogs tend to want something to do, so a puzzle or food dispensing toy like the StarMark Bob-A-Lot Interactive Dog Toy might be perfect.

Another great option is the Planet Dog Orbee-Tuff Snoop and Interactive Treat Dispensing Puzzle Dog Toy.

If the dog you know is geriatric, a little extra comfort might be found in the Toozey Pet Heating Pad.

Dog Christmas Gifts: Technology

For the best of both worlds, consider dog Christmas gift that helps the humans out as well! A Petcube Cam Indoor Wi-Fi Pet and Security Camera with Phone App will help them keep an eye on their most beloved canines and it comes with an upgrade option if you wanted to really splurge!

For a dog family with an anxious pup, a PetMedics Calming Pet Soothing Sound Noise Machine would be a thoughtful gift.

Outdoorsy Dog Christmas Gifts

The outdoorsy dog person might love the MalsiPree Dog Water Bottle, Leak Proof Portable Travel Dog Water Dispenser.

The homebodies would get a kick out of the OARSE Custom Pet Pillows Personalized with Photo Pillow.

Dog Christmas Sweaters? Unless Your Dog is Chilly, Collars Are Better.

Instead of a dog Christmas sweater, I like to recommend a festive dog collar like the ARING PET Dog Collar Bowtie.

A collar is a nice compromise to dressing your dog up in a Christmas outfit because experts have found that many dogs do not enjoy wearing outfits.

I usually avoid dressing my dogs in costumes or outfits unless they need or want to be warmer, but in any case, always remember to measure for the correct fit and make sure your dog is comfortable wearing clothes.

If the dog in your life seems chilly, the Blueberry Pet 8 Patterns Christmas Family Sweaters is perfect, but make sure to measure as recommended to ensure a good fit!

My own dog, Lucy, who is a lover of all things warm, loves her Dog Winter Coat Soft Fleece Pullover Pajamas. She actually gets to open these early so she can stay warm all through the season.

It’s best to keep in mind that a dog can have lukewarm feelings about what we think is fun. Sometimes, certain Christmas gifts for dogs can be downright frightening for them and we may not even realize it. Make sure the gifts you’re considering are safe and have the dog’s best interest at heart.

A dog Christmas outfit or costume like the BWOGUE Santa Dog Christmas Costume might seem fun, but they’re really for the enjoyment of the humans. The costumes may even encourage unsafe and unfair interactions with the dog by already-excited kids, which can lead to unfortunate accidents and fearful behavior from the dog who may not enjoy receiving that kind of attention.

Keep Christmas a joyful time for your dog, too, and reserve the silly outfits for the humans.

Merry Christmas!

I hope this list of Dog Christmas Gifts helps you get started shopping for the lucky dog in your life. Merry Christmas!
